Notes:
The second EP in Flumo Recordings’ Various Artist ‘Dot Colour’ series sees the label showcase tracks from Zumo, Carlo and Vlad Malinovskiy. All three artists have previously worked with Flumo, with Hypercolour signing Zumo having appeared on six releases in the past two years. The EP, released on vinyl, perfectly represents the deep house sound of 2012 with heavy basslines laying a foundation for vintage drums and moody, rubbery synths. UK duo Zumo are Si O'Connor and Phil Kallitsakis, who have worked with renowned labels Hypercolour/Losing Suki, Save You, Flumo and Landed since 2008, gaining support from ultra-cool underground names such as Luciano, Matthew Dear and Panorama Bar’s Margaret Dygas. Their music has been perfectly reviewed as “…highly effective house riddim. Skanking on nicely with swagger at lo-tempo, appealing to both house and disco heads a-like.” Carlo is originally from Malaga in Spain and is now based in Berlin (following a stint in London) – he’s another artist with an impressive roster of labels to his name – Beef, Plastic City, Clock, Elevation and his own Neovinyl amongst several more. His music has seen support from Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Steve Bug, Terry Lee Brown and Maya Jane Coles. Ukranian Vlad Malinovskiy completes the international line-up on ‘Dot Colour Series: Pink’. The majority of Malinovskiy’s output has appeared on his home-country label Freedom Recordings, with other occasional outings for the Flumo, Inbox, Relax and Tristor imprints. Founded in Seville in 2006, but now based in London, Flumo Recordings has welcomed artists including Tom Demac, Catz N Dogz, Dixie Yure, James Teej, Pol_On, Alex Arnout, T.W.I.C.E. and many more of the cream of the current deep/tech house crop.
